INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS

Authors (doctoral workshop)

The PhD Colloquium is designed for doctoral candidates who are in the process of developing their doctoral theses. It provides a space for active and constructive debate. The goal is to enhance the quality of thesis projects through interactive discussions and constructive feedback from a panel of experienced researchers in the field of Business Management.

Doctoral candidates who attend will have the opportunity to present their research proposals and receive feedback, including general suggestions, theoretical approaches and methodologies applicable to their research and relevant bibliographic references.

To make the most of the workshop, it is recommended that the research proposals are sufficiently advanced. This includes identifying a gap in the literature, formulating the research question, establishing the theoretical framework and presenting at least some preliminary results.

The preferred language for presentations and discussions at the Doctoral Colloquium is English.

This part includes practical information related to the delivery of the thesis project, the preparation of the poster and the development of the PhD Colloquium.

Deadline for submission of the project and poster June 1, 2026
Colloquium Presentation Format Poster printed in A0 size, portrait orientation
PhD Colloquium sessions Sunday 14 June 2026 (full day) and final session on Tuesday 16 June in the afternoon

Before 1 June 2026, a version, as complete as possible, of the PhD thesis project, as well as the poster file, must be sent through the congress ConfTool platform (https://www.conftool.org/acede2026/). The conference organizers will be responsible for printing the poster, so it will not be necessary for participants to print it on their own.

Thesis project document

This document will serve as a basis for the assigned discussant to prepare comments and suggestions for improvement.

  • The document may be submitted in Spanish or English.
  • A coherent, structured and substantive text is expected, although the work is still in progress.
  • The proposal should reflect a sufficient degree of maturity to encourage useful academic discussion.

It is recommended that the document include at least the following sections:

  • Title and abstract.
  • Introduction: justification of interest in the topic, gap in the literature, research question and expected contribution.
  • Theoretical framework expected to address the problem.
  • Hypotheses or propositions raised, when applicable.
  • Methodology expected for the empirical study: obtaining data, measurements and analysis techniques.
  • Expected results, if applicable.
  • Provisional conclusions, assumed limitations and implications.
  • Specific bibliographic references on the subject, with a minimum of ten relevant references.

Poster for the presentation

In addition to the written document, each participant will be required to prepare a printed poster that will support the oral presentation of the project during the colloquium.

  • A0 size.
  • Vertical orientation.
  • The poster should explain the research on its own.
  • It should include only 1 or 2 graphics or images essential to the message.
  • A simple, visually clear and attractive design is recommended.
  • The number of words should be kept to a minimum.
  • The poster should facilitate conversation with discussant and attendees.
  • The recommended language of the text is English.

The oral presentation will have a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Students will be informed of the number assigned to their poster and therefore of the time slot in which their presentation will take place when they register in person for the doctoral workshop on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

Dynamics of the PhD Colloquium

The PhD Colloquium is conceived as a space for academic discussion aimed at improving the quality of the thesis projects presented. Its objective is to offer PhD students critical comments, theoretical and methodological suggestions, and references of interest to continue developing their research.

  • The colloquium will take place throughout the day on Sunday, June 14 and will conclude with a final closing session of one and a half hours on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 16, 2026, so it will be necessary, whenever possible, to remain at the conference until the end of that session.
  • The program will include sessions and discussions on key issues in research design and academic career development.
  • Each project will be assigned a discussant, who will provide detailed and critical feedback to help refine the proposal.
  • In addition, the rest of the participants and attendees will be able to make observations and suggestions during the discussion.
  • The closing session will include a thematic group activity (previously formed based on shared research interests) in which each group will briefly present a summary of the learnings from the colloquium and the conference, as well as a synthesis of the contributions received on their research.
